Tracking is one of the most important aspects of any online store; it allows you to pinpoint where your conversions and sales are coming from. Tracking will enable you to manage your Web Marketing on an ROI (Return on Investment) basis.
Some search engines have built in tracking solutions that will allow you to measure performance of a keyword on that particular engine. Engine tracking, is reliable to an extent however we recommend having some other tracking solution installed as well to run in tandem with engine tracking. Installing another tracking solution also will allow you to see what kind of visits you are getting across the web, not just in paid search.
Most tracking solutions will ask that you include a snippet of code on the “thank you” page. The “thank you” page comes up after someone buys something on the shopping cart. If you wish to track on PPC engines as well you will need to enter arguments within the URL code for each keyword submitted to engines.
There are many tracking version available, each have different price point and different features. Be sure to identify what you want your tracking to do before you purchase a tracking solution.
